HALT Films

We created three films with 10x victims/survivors of domestic abuse and 7x family members who were bereaved due to domestic homicide. Two of these films are available to view on the links below. Please note, that these films do contain a trigger warning. The content includes detailed acts of coercion and violence that escalates to death. This includes strangulation, multiple stabbings, and shooting. If you find the content upsetting you can find support from the following support lines: Refuge Domestic Abuse Helpline 0808 2000 247 open 24/7 or Samaritans on 116123 open 24/7.

Film One:

Film One: This film is 17 minutes long and was filmed online during the lockdown pandemic of 2021. It includes ten people recounting their abuse and their experiences of services. It is edited into 3 chapters: 1.) What happened to me, 2.) Service response and experiences  3.) The one thing I would change. Due to security and safety reasons this films is not available for open viewing. If you would like to view this film please email Khatidja on k.chantler@mmu.ac.uk with details of who you are and your role, where you would like to view the film, for what purpose, who the intended audience would be, and how you would ensure the film is not shared elsewhere.

Film Two:

Film Two: That Day – This film is 13 minutes long and was filmed online during the lockdown pandemic of 2021. It tells the stories of the homicides on the day it occurred and powerfully conveys its impact. It is edited by weaving 2/3 different stories in and out of each other.

Film Three:

Film Three: The Families Voice – his film is 21 minutes long and was filmed online during the lockdown pandemic of 2021. It includes seven family members reflecting back on the key moments from their Domestic Homicide Review experience. This film is edited into 5 chapters: 1.) Missed opportunities, 2.) The children’s voice, 3.) The DHR experience, 4.) Support through the process, 5.) The one thing I would change
